    Swine Flu! Your thoughts.

The pork industry is urging the media to stop calling the latest disease the "Swine Flu" because it is hurting their bottom line.  Instead, it should be referred to as H1N1, which is the strain of flu.

First, does calling it Swine Flu make you wary of eating bacon or other pork products?

Second, are you concerned about getting H1N1?

Third, do you have any questions you would ask a health professional?

More than the pork industry desires this h1n1 virus not be called swine flu. Too bad we cannot name it from its orgin like we have named other flus. My question is the confirmed cases in Oregon, why are we not informed as to whether these cases are all from mexican americans. I have been avoiding all contact with those people.

The information I have read has said that the confirmed cases are not just Mexican-Americans. Whereas most of the initial cases involved people visiting or coming in contact with people who recently visited Mexico, there are now probable (possible?) cases of people with Swine Flu (or whatever you want to call it) who have no contact with Mexico.

The bright side is this is now being deemed less lethal than previously thought, but health officials are still urging caution and common sense when it comes to personal health.
