I was watching the news, and doing a few other things. I may have misheard the report.
So correct me if I'm wrong.
Did I hear that, a man who killed 6 puppies with a metal pipe will only go to jail for four months???

Lockerbie bomber released

TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) - Although his release outraged family members of those who died on Pan Am Flight 103, the only man convicted in that bombing has been warmly greeted back home in Libya.

Abdel Baset al-Megrahi flew home after his release today from a prison in Scotland, where he had served eight years for his role in the bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland, more than two decades ago. He's been released now because he's terminally ill with prostate cancer, and appears to have just months to live.

Thousands of young people were on hand at the airport in Tripoli to greet him. He left the plane accompanied by the son of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, and they sped off in a convoy of vehicles.

In Libya, al-Megrahi is seen as an innocent scapegoat, used by the West to turn Libya into a pariah. There was a festive atmosphere for his return, with some people wearing T-shirts with his picture on it.

In Washington, President Barack Obama earlier said the decision to free al-Megrahi was a mistake, and that he should be put under house arrest. He warned Libya not to give him a hero's welcome.

The pork industry is urging the media to stop calling the latest disease the "Swine Flu" because it is hurting their bottom line. Instead, it should be referred to as H1N1, which is the strain of flu.

First, does calling it Swine Flu make you wary of eating bacon or other pork products?

Second, are you concerned about getting H1N1?

Third, do you have any questions you would ask a health professional?

WES Train an expensive alarm clock?

For the past three days I have been rudely awoken every 15 minutes starting around 6:30 by the horn of WES train. I understand that the horn is for safety, but why does it have to be so load that it wakes me up from a half mile away? If it does not stop may may have to make a picket sign and protest publicly, or leave downtown Beaverton.

Hi, I'm a student at a high school in portland oregon and i want as many people who care about us kids getting an education. There is a rally Febuary 16th 2009 meet us at the state capitol in salem around 11:00 AM thanks for particapating.

Happy Holidays fellow Portlanders. So, last night I thought I would try a new beat in evening news so I checked out Koin 6. Your first story wasn't about the bombing of Gaza or the Santa slayings or anything I cared about really. Instead, it was about a local horse farming ranch with millions of dollars in live stock, who have insurance, that didn't clear the snow off their roof and the barn caved in asking for help.....Yea, last time i tune in to Koin. Also, the Pit Bull attacks seem to be nightly, but nothing on that as well. Has anyone noticed it's rarely a single dog attacking? They seem to always be in pairs. I take my dog to the park daily and I love watching a 130 lb woman try to control her two Pit's on a leash that totally pull her into our area of play, just to growl and mark their territory intimidating me, my child and Aussie Shep. Also, why doesn't anyone outlaw Bikes riding tandem on side streets completely blocking traffic, just so they can be next to their friends? They laugh about it, most don't share the road at all actually. My favorite is, waiting at an intersection with my right blinker on and finally a break comes in traffic but....I can't turn because a few riders slid in around me and are now in front of me, keeping me there the entire duration of the light. Times are going to get harder, and all the ignorant, self absorbed people that don't see anything outside their own two feet are going to piss the wrong person off one day and pay the price. People are already on edge with stability in both our nation and home life, finances, stress, depression....people blow. Have a wonderful New Year, thank you for reading;)

Tri-Met dogs

I recently called Tri-Met myself and complained about a certain dog that I had seen not only allowed on the bus, but also I have seen it on the MAX. The first time I saw it was on the MAX. I happened to be the first person to board at my stop, and there was a young man with a blue water bowl to my left, and to my right, completely blocking the way to enter, was his PIT BULL. I had to wait for the dog's owner to realize the dog was blocking everyone from getting on that door and move the dog before I could board the train. Then, a few weeks later, I saw the same young man with the same blue water dish, and the dame Pit Bull dog get on the bus. That is when I called to complain. When I called, I was informed that some people with disabilities do not have a visible disability - and I informed the Tri Met worker I was talking to, that I am one of those people. I feel there are at least two issues to deal with in this situation. 1) Then need to distinguish a service dog from other dogs allowed on the bus. One way to start, is to know that NO aggressive dog breeds, ie: Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinschers, or Rottweilers are used as service dogs. Only German Shepherds are used because they are very obedient dogs. And for public safety, even if someone HAD trained their own aggressive dog as a service dog, I believe they should still not be allowed on a public transportation vehicle. Nobody on that bus, including any other dogs, is able to get away from a dog that might decide to protect their owner, or just turn aggressive for no known reason. That is at least a slight risk with any animal. 2) The need to show identification....as a disabled rider, I must show a signed form from my doctor showing that I am disabled. And those who are senior citizens must also show proof. Why then, are dog owners not required to show such certification and proof that their dog is a service dog or companion pet? That is a no-brainer, don't you think???

So -- he's a SERIAL Rapist -- why would they even consider letting him out on parole. And now we find out that he's threatened someones life? ...and that surprises them??? Keep these animals where they belong!!!
